Straight Football League
League: SFL · Platform: ESPN · Format: 12-team · Head-to-Head Points · Full PPR Season: 2026 NFL season (rules carry year-to-year) Commissioner: Mike Weiner Document status: Updated from league discussion and ratified settings, September 2026 Pick clock: 60 seconds
1. Purpose
SFL is a 12-team keeper league. The object is a fair, competitive season with clear, repeatable rules so nobody is guessing 24 hours before the draft. We show up, set the keeper, trash talk, and remember the years.
2. Membership
The league is private (not publicly viewable on ESPN).
Owners: Jacob Hill · Abimael Downing · Eric Tieken · Antonio Reyes · Michael Linsenman · Ryan O'Neil · Travis Byington · Mike Weiner (Commissioner) · Daniel Hawk · Cisco Cervantes Jr. · Dak Pacheco · Chris Hart
Vacancies: if a roster seat opens, the league votes on a replacement. The league endures.
3. Roster
Roster size 15 · Starters 9 · Bench 6 · Injured Reserve 1
Starting lineup: QB 1 · RB 2 · RB/WR 1 · WR 2 · TE 1 · D/ST 1 · K 1
Position maximums: QB 4 · RB 8 · WR 8 · TE 3 · D/ST 3 · K 3
Lineup locks individually at each player's scheduled game time. Lineup protection (auto-swap injured starters) is OFF. Player universe: NFL. ESPN undroppable-players list: OFF.
4. Scoring (Full PPR, fractional)

5. Draft
Snake · Tuesday, September 1, 2026 @ 7:00 PM CDT · 60 seconds per pick · pick trading not allowed.
Draft order (NFL-style): 1–6 non-playoff teams, inverse standings · 7–8 first-round playoff losers · 9–10 semifinal losers · 11 runner-up · 12 champion.
Live session: Google Meet. Audio is for trash talk only; picks are made in ESPN. The clock does not wait on Wi-Fi, mics, or "one second."
6. Keepers
One keeper per team. Lock one hour before the draft. Player must have finished the prior season on YOUR roster.
Cost — one-round penalty off original draft slot (regardless of who drafted him, even if he later hit waivers). Never drafted / UDFA costs Round 15. Round 15 original → Round 14 keep.
First-round ban: you may not keep a player selected in Round 1 last year.
Multi-year keep: same player consecutive seasons adds one extra round of penalty each year until the cost reaches Round 1 (then the player cannot be kept).
ESPN defaults a keeper to Round 1 unless the commissioner overrides. Tell Mike as soon as you lock a name.
7. Regular season
NFL Week 1 start · 1-week matchups · 14 regular-season weeks · no home-field advantage · no bonus wins. Matchup tie-breaker: most bench points.
8. Playoffs
6 teams · 1 week each round · championship 1 week · seeding tie-breaker: head-to-head · consolation ladder: yes.
Reseeding: playoffs reseed each round. If the 6 seed upsets the 3 seed they get the 1 seed instead of the 2.
Eliminated teams are NOT locked out of transactions during the playoffs.
9. Waivers & free agency
Waivers · 1-day period · order resets each week to inverse standings · no season acquisition cap.
10. Trades
No limit · deadline Wednesday, December 2, 2026 @ 11:00 AM CST · 1-day review · 5 votes to veto. Pick trading is not allowed at the draft. Collusion or dump trades may be vetoed or reversed by the commissioner.
11. Commissioner authority
Mike Weiner may set and correct draft order and keeper rounds, make time-sensitive executive decisions, and correct platform errors.
Executive decisions on the books: playoff reseeding each round · no first-round keepers + one-round penalty + escalating multi-year cost · undroppable list off.
Material rule changes after the draft require group consent.
12. Amendments
Proposed changes should be posted in the league Facebook Messenger thread with enough time for the group to review. Keeper structure is the default going forward. Changing it requires affirmative agreement, not silence.
13. Conduct
Trash talk and personal attacks expected and preferred. Show up for the draft. The clock does not wait.
14. Last place
Finishing last is a moral event. Specific punishments are not codified. If the league wants a standing last-place rite, put it to a vote after the 2026 season rather than inventing it in Week 17.
